Francesca Carr, founder and drama teacher at Harris School of Performing Arts in Farndon, near Chester, smiling and wearing an HSPA hoodie

Hi, I’m Francesca.

I started Harris School of Performing Arts because I’ve seen first-hand how drama can transform a child’s confidence. I wanted to create a place where young people can be themselves, make friends and grow at their own pace, whether they’re a born performer or a little bit shy.

Every Friday I teach the class myself, so I get to know each child and what helps them shine.

My Approach

Children sitting in a circle on the floor with their teacher during a confidence-building drama class in Farndon

Drama is the tool, but confidence is the goal. Our classes are fun, structured and supportive, with drama games, movement, character work and storytelling. No experience is needed, and no one is ever pushed to perform before they’re ready.

Small and supportive

Small groups mean every child is seen, encouraged and included. Quieter children get the time they need to find their voice, and confident ones get room to grow.

Confidence that lasts

Watching students grow, make friends and surprise themselves is my favourite part of what I do. The confidence they build here goes with them into school, friendships and everything else.

I’m DBS checked, safeguarding trained and first aid trained, so you can feel confident your child is in safe hands.

“She was in tears before her first class. She came out super happy and excited.”
